Peer education empowers young people to educate other young people, drawing on the strength of positive peer pressure.

Young people who wish to become peer educators are given training and support and become involved in the education process.

‘Youth Aloud’ are an alcohol education group are based at the Junction. They have been peer educators since summer 2005 and have delivered alcohol education sessions in primary schools in the North Edinburgh area. Here’s what they have to say for themselves…

“We are a group of young people aged between 14 and 16. We have learned about alcohol from the facts and our own experiences. We will be going around youth clubs and schools in Leith area doing alcohol awareness sessions. Our activities are fun and full of useful information about booze and tips on how to take care of yourself and your mates, so you don’t lose it when you booze it!”

“We believe in young people listening to and learning from other young people and thinking before drinking”
