Creative Express is our new initiative using creative arts to support the health and wellbeing of local young people. This is done through one-to-one session, groupwork and outreach.

It aims to create emotionally safe spaces where young people can creatively express their thoughts, feelings and ideas in relation to their own and others health and wellbeing; through the use of various mediums for example: poetry, art, drama, creative writing, music…

Themes for exploration are negotiated in consultation with young people, as is which creative art form might be used to explore them.

This initiative will also allow The Junction team to further examine the possibilities of various creative therapies…

…such as Bibliotherapy and Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes…

…whilst promoting our organisation and meeting ‘new’ young people who may not have previously considered accessing The Junction.

Recent work has included a series of ‘Creative Canvases’ sessions held at The Junction, were young people create pieces for The Junction walls, and some for taking home.

Previous outreach has included sessions at The Citadel Youth Centre, Pilton Youth & Children Project  and Leith Library.
