Leith Community Mental Health Collaborative
Leith Community Mental Health Collaborative
The Leith (and surrounding areas) Community Mental Health Collaborative delivers wellbeing services for young people. It’s partnership led by The Junction, including The Citadel Youth Centre, Multicultural Family Base, Pilmeny Development Project, YMCA and the Ripple Project.
We are working together to support better access to mental health support in Leith and the surrounding area for young people and their families. Most young people will attend schools in the Leith, Drummond and Trinity clusters.
We offer a range of support across the different projects including:
Individual support
- The Junction provides up to 20 sessions of counselling for young people aged 12 – 21. Provided by a BACP registered qualified and experienced counsellor
- The Citadel provides one-to-one support and a wellbeing group work programme for young people aged 12 – 19
- Multicultural Family Base (MCFB) provides targeted mental health support for BAME young people aged 12 to 16. Those accessing the weekly evening group can access one-to-one support
- Pilmeny Development Project and YMCA Edinburgh provide one-to-one support and mentoring for girls who are anxious about attending the group or are need of additional support
- Pilmeny Development Project: 1:1 support to children aged 12-16 and their families in the Leith Walk area, who are experiencing mental health and wellbeing issues.
Group Activities
- MOSAIC is a partnership Multicultural Family Base (MCFB) and The Junction that provides targeted mental health support for BAME young people aged 12 to 16. This includes a weekly group for young people.
- Pilmeny Development Project and YMCA Edinburgh offer a Girls Emotional Health and Wellbeing Group for girls who are 12 – 16. The group is a supportive and safe space to build friendship and take part in sessions focusing on emotional and physical health and well-being.
- The Ripple Wellbeing Group Work Programme is for young people aged 10-15. Parents/carers are also offered a similar adult course at the same time to support whole family wellbeing.
