The project aims to support and improve young people’s mental health and wellbeing across the City of Edinburgh. Recognising the impact of poor mental health on the whole family, the service will also engage directly with family members and link them to appropriate services.
Supported by NHS Lothian, the service brings five experienced youth and community organisations together The Junction (North East Edinburgh), Granton Youth (North/ North West), Wester Hailes Youth Agency (South West Edinburgh), Canongate (South East), 6VT Youth Cafe (Central) from different geographical locations across the city.
Cara Spence, Director of The Junction said:
“The partnership aims to expand existing services for young people, develop innovative new services and ensure families are linked into support for a more holistic service. 6VT will also be working directly in emergency departments to support young people and families when they need it most. It will also provide an exciting opportunity for organisations to learn from each other’s wealth of experience and take time to gather information on its impact, working closely with it’s evaluation partner Northern Star.”
The service will be start from the 1st August 2023.
