The Junction could not do the vital work they do without the support of the Board of Trustees who have overall responsibility for the organisation.
Lewis Brown (Chair): I am an Edinburgh native, I have lived in and around Northern East Edinburgh for the last ten years.
My professional experience encompasses commercial and contract management for various public sector organisations, and I have also spent time in the charitable sector with senior fundraising roles with organisations such as Marie Curie, the Mental Health Foundation and Children 1st.
I bring governance expertise and knowledge of Edinburgh youth work having been Chair of the board of the Wester Hailes Youth Agency until 2019. I am a former Children’s Panel member, and for a time managed national recruitment of panel members for Children’s Hearings Scotland.

Anna Kilroy (Treasurer): I have worked as a qualified Accountant for nearly 20 years in both practice and industry, dealing with a range of organisations of various sizes and from different sectors. I have prepared and presented financial reports to Board members and fielded questions where necessary. I am currently employed by a dental clinic as their Accountant.
I recently completed an introductory COSCA course in counselling skills and now volunteer as a mentor at a local high school. Counselling and wellbeing is an area I am interested in exploring further in the future either from an employment or voluntary perspective. As an accountant I am trained to be analytical, logical and detail focused. More recently I have developed more precise listening abilities which has strengthened my communication skills.

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in connecting with a wide range of people and providing assistance to people facing difficult circumstances. Through this work, I have garnered invaluable transferable skills which I continue to use to create positive change within the public sector.

Nick Roy: I’m from Edinburgh and have lived near Leith for over 20 years. I heard about the Junction and the fantastic work that we do through social media, and jumped at the chance to join the board to see what I can do to help. Having three sons, I know how good it is to have somewhere that young people can readily get support, and the services the Junction provide are really valuable for a lot of people. I’ve worked in the Financial Services for most of my career. I’m hoping that the experience I’ve gained over the years will help the Junction continue to deliver on the services we provide.

About The Role
The Treasurer will assist and advise the Board of Directors on issues related to finance. The position works in partnership with members of the staff team who deal with much of the day-to-day financial business, predominantly the Director and Finance Officer. All Trustees collectively play their part in financial monitoring and decision making at The Junction.
Within the role you will contribute to Finance Sub-Groups (meeting roughly 4 times per year in advance of a Full Board Meeting). You will also share Finance Papers at full Board Meetings which take place 4 times per year. You can join in-person or online.
About You
A key requirement for the position is that you have experience of managing finances for a board, for committee, or for an organisation. Applications from qualified accountants and those with experience within the finance sector would be very welcomed but this experience is not essential to the role.
Ability to ask questions, share and uphold our organisational values (inclusive, non-judgemental and collaborative) and having the time commitment for the role is also key to the role.
