Trainee Counsellors

WE ARE CURRENTLY AT FULL CAPACITY and not accepting applications.

The Junction is able to support up to ten counselling trainees with student placements. We recruit across the year at times when our current students are leaving us. This tends to be around twice a year around May and December (but this can vary).

Counselling trainee applicants must be enrolled on or have completed a Diploma in counselling or equivalent.

Because our referrals come from young people as young as 12-years-old we can only take on up to three trainee counsellors who are limited to working with individuals aged 16+, this is so the younger referrals on our waitlist are not held up from support due to there being no available counsellors.

All trainee counsellors must:

• Provide services in accordance with the BACP code of ethics and The Junction’s policies and procedures
• Be interested in young people’s development and issues they may face
• Adhere to Child Protection Policies & Practice
• Have external clinical supervision in place in accordance with BACP, COSCA or equivalent professional body requirements
• Provide own professional indemnity insurance
• Be a member of BACP, COSCA or equivalent organisation
• Be willing and able to engage in self-care and, where required, personal therapy
• Be able to work within The Junction’s values and ethos (in particular, reflective practice, seeing young people as assets, use a harm reduction approach)
